Itzhak Katra's research aims to develop a comprehensive understanding of the nature of dust emission from soils and the atmospheric transport of dust/aerosols. How the dust is affected by anthropogenic activities, and the consequences for humans in terms of soil loss, air pollution, and human health. His research activities on the desert dust storms in the arid environment of the Negev include experiments on dust emission by boundary layer wind tunnels, monitoring of indoor and outdoor particulate matter (PM), and physical and chemical analyses of atmospheric particle.
